  • Reconecta is a 4-day experience for adults, ages 20 and older. It is designed to help participants reconnect with:

    • themselves

    • their creativity

    • nature

    • Puerto Rican culture and community

This experience is primarily intended for people who feel some connection to Puerto Rico, including members of the Puerto Rican diaspora.

However, you do not need to have Puerto Rican ancestry to attend. If you feel curious about learning more about Borikén, its culture, and its community, you are welcome to join.

Our goal is to create a diverse and supportive community of people who want to reconnect, learn, and share meaningful experiences together.

  • Our staff is bilingual in Spanish and English, and you are welcome to communicate in either language.

All activities will take place in a multilingual setting, and any written communication will be provided in both languages.

That said, we encourage participants to practice Spanish as much as possible while visiting the Island as a way to immerse with Puerto Rican culture and heritage.

  • Reconecta takes place in Bosque Estatal de Susúa, a tropical forest in southwestern Puerto Rico.

In mid-July, participants should expect warm temperatures, high humidity, and the possibility of afternoon rain showers, which are common during the summer months.

Because we will be spending most of our time outdoors, you may also encounter:

    • insects and mosquitoes

    • uneven terrain and forest trails

    • mud or wet ground after rain

    • natural sounds from wildlife at night

    • warm nights and early morning humidity

Experiencing the forest as it truly is — alive, dynamic, and sometimes unpredictable — is part of the Reconecta journey of reconnecting with nature.

  • The activity is designed for a range of ability and experience levels

Since no two people have identical accommodation needs, we encourage you to reach out with any questions you have specific to your circumstances.

Some activities may include moderate physical movement such as hiking, outdoor exploration, or group activities, but participation in any activity is always optional

If you have any physical limitations or disabilities, please inform the organizers during registration so we can accommodate you to the best of our ability.

  • Three daily meals and snacks during camp are included.

    We will two menu options:

    • Traditional menu

    • Vegan menu

Please indicate your dietary preference and any food allergies in the registration form so we can accommodate you.

  • Participants may drive directly to the campsite. Detailed directions to Bosque Estatal de Susúa will be provided after registration.

We can also provide transportation from the airport or a to-be-designated meeting point for an additional fee.

If you would like assistance planning the rest of your stay, feel free to ask about our optional concierge services.

  • There is no reliable cell service or internet access at the campsite.

Reconecta is designed to be a digital detox experience, but this aspect of the experience is optional.

Those who want to fully immerse can give up their personal  electronic devices to be safely stored by the organizers for the duration of the camp and returned on the final day.

Although there is no phone signal at the campsite, staff will travel to a nearby location with cell service twice a day to check the emergency contact line. If you have further questions, please email us at reconectandoya@gmail.com.

  • Participants will stay in shared wooden cabins located within the forest. Participants must bring their own bedding (sleeping bag or comforter and pillow).

Cabins are co-ed shared spaces, and participants should be comfortable sharing sleeping areas with others as part of the community experience. Beds will be assigned randomly, with bottom bunks reserved for participants with accessibility needs

Each cabin accommodates up to 8 participants and includes full-size bunk beds

    Please note:

    • Bathrooms and showers are shared facilities.

    • There is no hot water on site.

For safety and support, one staff member will stay in each cabin.

If at any point you feel uncomfortable with your cabin assignment, please speak with one of the organizers or staff members. We will do our best to address concerns and find a reasonable solution when possible, while maintaining fairness for all participants.
